Continuing Education Matters: CEA Conference 2022
EXPLORE, EDUCATE, and EMPOWER…three words to describe the sentiment of what was to come at the 2022 CEA Conference. Continuing education is extremely important (and required) in the beauty industry, and though there are many opportunities out there to meet these requirements, none compare to that of the annual CEA conference. This year, the event was held in Las Vegas, and American Institute of Beauty sent two of our educators to continue their education and network with other industry professionals!
What is the CEA Conference?
The Career Education Alliance (CEA) Conference is a convention held each year for Beauty and Wellness professionals. During this three-day conference, educators can make connections with other like-minded professionals and learn from industry-leading experts. CEA is full of classes that focus on educational methods, technology, awareness, and how to enhance the classroom experience. There are also hands-on sessions giving educators the opportunity to amplify their expertise all while earning CEUs (continuing education units) necessary for license renewal.
The event is joined by industry experts and motivational speakers from across the country with years of beauty industry experience behind them and this year was one for the books! Over 350 attendees and exhibitors participated in CEA, making this the largest conference in its history.
“CEA was such an amazing experience! It didn’t just change the way I teach in the classroom, it changed me as a person, too!” -Ms. Kelly, Phase 1 Cosmetology/Barber Educator, St. Pete Campus
What is AACS?
The American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS) was founded in 1924 and is a national non-profit open to all privately owned schools of Cosmetology arts and sciences. Presently, AACS has over 250 school owners as members comprising 500 different schools across the country. AACS serves as a critical source of information and provides its members with updates on new teaching methods, industry events (such as the CEA conference), and federal regulatory updates. For schools that participate in Title IV funding, AACS also lobbies Congress and the Department of Education to protect the educational interests of students.
The AACS core values include:
- Integrity
- Being passionate and determined
- Humanitarian outreach
- Embracing diversity
- Members first through empowerment
- Preserving educational choice
- Fostering a sense of community
- Creative learning
- Changing lives
AACS membership includes Cosmetology, Skin, Nail, Barbering, and Massage schools. Interested in learning more? Click here: learn more about AACS
“CEA was everything! It gave me the tools to make my educational delivery even better than before. I learned skills at CEA that have helped me touch lives inside and outside of the classroom.” -Mrs. Lisa, Skin Care Educator, Largo Campus
