It’s Back… With A New Look! Crimps are making a comeback.
Crimps are making a comeback. And who is leading this trend? The one and only Sam Villa of course. Sam Villa is combining crimps with braids for an even more textured look. Redken has jumped on board with this new trend with their braid aid. Sam Villa also has created Textur texturizing iron, a mini crimping tool since most of us no longer have ours from the 80’s.
And Sam Villa is not the only one. Check out Modern Salon Magazine’s Game Changers. Stylists are combining all kinds of textures; crimps, curls, dreads, and braids. The results are breath taking. And my favorite is by Heather Stone. She does such a wonderful job taking micro crimped hair and braiding it into beautifully sophisticated styles.
Seventeen magazine even featured a great back to school hairstyle guide. Keep your tweens up to date with the latest: messy braids and messy loose locks are all the rage. It’s a great style choice whether your hair is long or short. Increase your profit even more by teaching parents easy at home care and styles. Most of these messy locks can be done at home with a simple curling iron or flat iron.
With fall approaching be sure to stock up on your warm browns, coppers, and reds as hair takes on darker warmth for fall. Redken is bringing out it’s Sombre, babylights, and lightened red all inspired by master artist Tracey Cunningham. Find ways to take your sultry blonde slightly darker with some warmth added in, sombre is the perfect transition for this client. Redken has great instructions on how to recreate any of their trends. But don’t think for a minute that the bright intense colors are going anywhere just yet. Instead be prepared to see a remix of the spring trends. Try mixing silver with lavender to get a beautiful new twist to the silver ombre. Kenra did a great job remixing this spring trend. Think of other colors you can mix with Silver for fall; the possibilities are endless.
It’s back to school time, and we all know what that means…..more freedom! But in all seriousness; now we have to worry about the dreaded head lice. Well this year you have help! Babo Botanicals and Fairytales are two brands that make products that repel head lice and are all natural with no harsh chemicals. What a relief! And Babo advertises that it is safe for adults to use on all hair types including color treated hair. No more pesky itching and worrying about sleep overs. But if you happen to have a run in with head lice and want an all-natural alternative; fairytales has the solution with their lice good bye product line.
