Summer is in full swing and fall is just around the corner, and it has been an amazing summer of color. The bright, vivid, and crazy colors have been all the rage this summer. We started spring out with the beautiful grey ombre and have seen that transition into the latest hit; the galaxy color combination. Guy Tang with Pravana does a beautiful galaxy hair color style! Be sure to check out the video here. Pravana just released their latest line in their Vivids Collection: Locked-In. A set of 6 shades guaranteed not too bleed into each other or pre-lightened hair. Those of us that have been in the industry for years have asked for bright fun colors that would not bleed! We are excited that Pravana has finally come out with that technology.
Olaplex has been all the rage in hair color as well; a new bonding technology system that you can use with any brand of hair color or bleach. It promises to not only increase hair’s strength, but also improve hair’s quality and texture during the chemical process. They even boast that you will be able to achieve lighter levels of blonde without sacrificing the integrity of the hair. And take it from me, it works great! My client’s hair quality improved drastically after the service and felt thick and luscious. I was even able to get them to their desired level of blonde with little to no damage. Just remember that Olaplex does increase processing time so you may want to increase the volume of peroxide that you are using. They have a simple three step program designed to boost sales and keep clients returning. Be sure to check out Olaplex and brush up on your hair chemistry!
Hair loss has been a constant problem that we have dealt with through the years and we have also seen many companies come out with products to combat this. Nioxin has been around for years and has just undergone a new and improved formula. Bosley is no longer just about hair replacement surgery but has released their own professional hair loss system. And now Redken has come out with theirs; Cerafill. The newest trend on the thinning hair market is improving hair fibers. Remember instant hair that came in an aerosol can, well the idea is back, but has evolved to a whole new level utilizing keratin fibers. Be sure to keep an eye out for hair thickening fibers in the near future. Bosley has day viewed their version already and others are on the way.
